FIS was the start of a very meaningful and fulfilling journey towards lifelong dreams of mine. One thing that I really like about FIS is that in the final semester, students are given the opportunity to pick electives. I chose to take Chemistry III and Biosciences. In all honesty, Biosciences was not an easy subject to tackle but I’m glad I did because it made my life in undergraduate medicine much easier.

The biggest plus point in FIS was the Look, See, Feel sessions which gives students the opportunity to experience the IMU degree programmes personally. The very detailed and medical-integrated syllabus is another added advantage for those who love to immerse themselves in extra facts. I can confidently say that my Semester 1-3 has been smooth sailing due to the extra guidance from the lecturers.

Throughout the foundation studies, IMU had provided me with multidisciplinary exposure in its teaching and learning activities such as classroom teaching, group discussions and lab work. We were given the opportunity to experience first-hand learning activities from other undergraduate programmes, including medicine, chiropractic and many more which makes the progression into degree programmes at IMU easier.

FIS taught me to be more independent, to learn to step out of my comfort zone and discovered new skills. Our lecturers often encourage us to be independent and learn to seek help if we ever need it. Even though the schedules were hectic at times and the class tests seemed never ending, but it taught me to manage my time, to be more efficient and to cut down procrastination.
